At last, Psyren is getting the anime adaptation we've been asking for in 2026

More than 15 years after the manga ended, a Psyren anime is on its way.

We love to be right on this one. Earlier this year, we spotted an advertisement in an industry magazine that explained that REMOW was co-producing a “high-profile project” with Shueisha based on a 15-year-old Weekly Shonen Jump series. We guessed at the time that it was Psyren, the Toshiaki Iwashiro manga that ended in 2010, and, amazingly, we were spot on with that prediction.

This week, we’ve just had the announcement that we were correct in our wild speculation: REMOW has just announced an anime adaptation of Psyren that is going to debut in 2026. The announcement came with a first look at the two lead characters and a teaser trailer. This was a teaser in every sense of the word – there was no real animation in it, but it gave a creepy vibe that we expect the anime to go for when it comes out next year.

As the trailer boasts, a Psyren anime has been asked for by fans for years now, so why has it taken so long to get made? The simple answer is that it was largely overshadowed by its contemporaries. The Psyren manga ran from 2007 to 2010 in Weekly Shonen Jump, where it was competing against One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto for everyone’s attention. However, its sales were strong and it has maintained enough of a fanbase that we’re getting a Psyren anime at long last.

The Psyren anime is coming out in 2026, more than 15 years after the final chapter of the manga was published.
