Chicago Fire, created by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt, is the procedural drama series that serves as the foundation for the One Chicago franchise. Following the exploits of the firefighters and paramedics of the fictional Firehouse 51 in Chicago, Illinois, the release date for Chicago Fire Season 15 on NBC will be here before you know it. So, what should you remember in advance of Chicago Fire's fifteenth season?

What is Chicago Fire?

On Chicago Fire, viewers explore the personal and professional lives of the Chicago Fire Department personnel at Firehouse 51. The show, created by Derek Haas and Michael Brandt with executive producer (and Law & Order empresario) Dick Wolf, debuted on NBC in 2012 and quickly became a hit. Multiple shows have spun out of the series, including Chicago PD and Chicago Med.

The cast includes Taylor Kinney as Lieutenant Kelly Severide, David Eigenberg as Senior Firefighter Christopher Herrmann, Christian Stolte as Senior Firefighter Randall "Mouch" McHolland, Joe Minoso as Firefighter Josef "Joe" Cruz, Miranda Rae Mayo as Firefighter Stella Kidd, Hanako Greensmith as Paramedic Violet Mikami and Jocelyn Hudon as Paramedic Lyla "Lizzie" Novak. Plus, Chicago Fire Season 15 will see the addition of Da'Vinchi as Marcus Burke.

What happened in the Chicago Fire Season 14 finale?

However, Chicago Fire Season 14 concluded with the episode "Thank You," which ended on a massive cliffhanger that left the lives of almost everyone in the cast hanging in the balance. But that wasn't the only plot thread left hanging. Herrmann and Cindy (Robyn Coffin) renewed their vows. Cruz and his wife discovered they are expecting twin girls. Severide must choose between becoming the captain of Firehouse 51 or taking a position as Chief of the Office of Fire Investigation. And Mouch secured a book deal for his manuscript, Sheets on Fire.

The release date for the first episode of Chicago Fire Season 14 is Wednesday, October 7th, 2026 at 9:00 PM ET/8:00 PM PT, with new episodes available for streaming the next day on Peacock.
