Chicago Med renewed by NBC for season 12: Release date, cast and more

The youngest of NBC's One Chicago shows is officially returning for Season 12 this fall

The last episode of Chicago Med Season 11 aired on May 13th, 2026, and One Chicago fans are already asking whether the show has been renewed for a twelfth season. We are happy to share the news that, yes, it has"! Chicago Med Season 12 has already been announced by NBC and is expected to begin airing in fall 2026.

Chicago Med is the story of the emergency room medical personnel of the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. The care providers not only deal with medical emergencies, but also the personal toll the demands of their careers take on them. Chicago Med is part of the Chicago franchise, also known as "One Chicago," which also includes Chicago Fire and Chicago PD. (You can find out more about the One Chicago shows right here.) While the ensemble rotating cast is no stranger to roster updates, you can expect the return of Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) and Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) in the upcoming season.

Chicago Med Season 12 will be heading your way this fall. While no definitive return date has been set for the series as of writing, NBC has confirmed that 'Windy City Wednesdays' will continue, with all One Chicago shows continuing to air in parallel on Wednesdays. Traditionally, the One Chicago shows return in either the final week of September or the first week of October each year. Although no specific date has been announced, going on past evidence, Chicago Med Season 12 will return to NBC in late September or early October 2026.
