What happens when you get two of Marvel's edgiest New Yorkers in the same room together? Storytelling dynamite, according to Daredevil: Born Again executive producer Sana Amanat.
We've known for a few months now that Krysten Ritter was set to reprise her role as Jessica Jones in the upcoming season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+. For everyone who holds the original Netflix Defenders series close to their heart (me), this was huge news! But why only Jessica? Well, as it turns out, there's a very specific storytelling chemistry that she and Daredevil have.
“[Jones] isn’t necessarily a team-up kind of person," Amanat told Empire magazine in its latest issue, "So the reason she’s back is because it feels very personal. She brings edginess and lightness – Daredevil can be very dark and dramatic, and she cuts through the BS in a really fun way.”
Jessica Jones and Daredevil have a comic book history (and romance!) of their own. And one of my favorite moments from Netflix's Defenders series was when Jones very drily calls Daredevil "Devil Boy" because she couldn't remember his superhero name. Here's to hoping that there will be a callback to this in Daredevil: Born Again season 2.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will debut on Disney+ March 4, 2026.
