Fire Country Season 4 recap: What to remember before Season 5 debuts on CBS

The fifth season of the CBS drama will be comprised of thirteen densely-plotted episodes

It's been months since audiences got a chance to see a happy ending (and Crawford and Violet get married!) in the season 4 finale to Fire Country - but the show is set to return this October for a new season of heated hijinks. So, what do you need to remember before the release date for Fire Country Season 5 on CBS arrives this fall?

What if Fire Country?

Created by Max Thieriot, Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, Fire Country stars Thieriot as Bode Donovan, a young convict who joined the California Conservation Camp Program, in which prisoners assist Cal Fire in firefighting. Now no longer an inmate but simply a full-fledged Cal Fire firefighter, Donovan is assigned to his fictional Northern California hometown, Edgewater.

In addition to Donovan's storyline, Cal Fire also follows the stories of other fire fighters (including some former inmates) as they work together to fight wildfires in the titular and volatile region. In addition to Thieriot as Donovan, the show also features Kevin Alejandro as Manuel "Manny" Perez, Jordan Calloway as Jake Crawford, Jules Latimer as Eve Edwards, Diane Farr as Sharon Leone, and Olivia Thirlby as Cecilia Jade “CJ” Ryan.

What happened in the Fire Country Season 4 finale?

Unlike many season finales, Fire Country Season 4 avoided a big disaster storyline and instead focused on narrative resolution. Donovan and Crawford rescue Danny Marks (Mike O'Malley) from a flood, which convinces Marks to drop his threat to turn Donovan, forgiving Donovan for his past misdoings. Meanwhile, the firefighters are able to protect the local hospital. Finally, Fire Country Season 4 concluded with the wedding of Crawford and Violet Mitchell (Nesta Cooper), which included a moment in which Donovan and Leone provided the couple with replacement rings.

The release date for Fire Country Season 5 on CBS is Friday, October 9th, 2026 at 9:00 PM ET/8:00 PM CT, with new episodes available to stream the next day on Paramount+.
