Fox goes all-in on animated comedies, renewing Krapopolis, Grimsburg, and Universal Basic Guys after giving four-year deals to The Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, Family Guy, and American Dad

There is no better broadcast network for the animation industry than Fox, with multi-year deals in place for seven shows at present

Fox’s dedication to animation continues to be unmatched in American television, with the network rolling our multiple renewals for three of its ongoing animated comedies — just weeks after multi-year deals being announced for even more animated shows.

As per Deadline, Krapopolis, Universal Basic Guys, and Grimsburg have all received new season orders — although, due to the production status of these shows, these renewals actually go beyond the new fall season in a couple of cases. Grimsburg, the Jon Hamm-voiced sitcom about the washed up detective returning to his hometown, gets a third season to air 2025-2026; Krapopolis, meanwhile, is about to start its own third season in fall 2025, but it’s just been renewed for its fifth season, having already received two early renewals earlier in its lifetime. That show, a twist on Ancient Greek myth created by Rick & Morty’s Dan Harmon, stars British comic royalty Matt Berry and Richard Ayoade, as well as Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham.

Similarly, Universal White Guys has been renewed for a third season, even though its second has yet to debut. Created by Adam and Craig Malamut — who also voice the two lead characters, Mark and Hank Hoagies — the show follows two average guys looking for purpose after being laid off when their jobs are taken over by AI. Fred Armisen also stars as the Hoagies’ neighbor, David.

The deal follows Fox’s landmark April deal for four new seasons each for The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Bob’s Burgers, as well as four new seasons of American Dad, which will return to the network in fall 2025. All four shows are now guaranteed to be on the air through 2029.

At present, only one animated series has not been renewed at Fox: The Great North. It also hasn’t been cancelled officially, however; it’s possible that its status will remain unclear until Fox unveils its Fall 2025 line-up on May 12 as part of its upfront presentation.
