Game of Thrones is harder to survive than Lord of the Rings, claims A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms star (Shots fired)
Peter Claffey says that people in Game of Thrones have it tougher than people in Lord of the Rings, because Westeros rewards greed

Which universe is tougher to survive in: Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings? A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms star Peter Claffey has an answer, and it might make people upset.
“I’m an enormous Lord of the Rings fan, I hope a lot of people are,” Claffey said during a panel at New York Comic Con 2025. However, despite his LOTR fandom, he thinks GOT is the tougher place to live. “This world that George [R. R. Martin] has created, there is a lot more sinister and adult themes that are presented, and a lot of treachery and backstabbing, and it’s hard to find your way. And for a lot of people in this world, those things work out. They pay off. I mean, it did for Petyr Baelish for a long time.”
He continued, “I think for somebody to have the actual knightly valor in that world is something to really look up to, especially in the world of Westeros through his journey in Ashford. I really adore Dunk’s want and need to maintain that knighthood has probably been forgotten in Westeros. I think it takes a lot more to be a knight in Westeros than it does in Middle-earth.”
Claffey joked that his opinion might ruffle some feathers. “I’m going to have to get flown out of here,” Claffey says.
In fairness, he’s only been in a Game of Thrones prequel so far and hasn’t done any Middle-earth projects as yet. Maybe he can get a role in the next Lord of the Rings film and get back to us after he’s tried both, just to see if his opinion has changed.
New York Comic-Con 2025 continues through Sunday, October 12.
