Marvel Studios hammers home the Iron Man parallels in the trailer for Disney+ summer show Ironheart

In the first trailer for Ironheart, Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams finds a villain in a mentor figure, just like Tony Stark did in Iron Man

Three years after debuting in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Riri Williams is finally back in the MCU for her own Disney+ show, Ironheart. Starring Dominique Thorne and executive produced by Ryan Coogler, Ironheart will kick off a busy summer season for Marvel Studios.

The trailer gives us an ample look at Anthony Ramos as the villain known as The Hood. From the looks of it, he will be providing a similar role for Riri Williams that Obadiah Stane did for Tony Stark in the original Iron Man movie - a mentor with less than noble motivations. Thus far, the MCU hasn't held back from putting Riri quite literally in a similar position as Tony Stark. Ironheart's trailer even includes the shot from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever where Riri hammers her armor in a tank top the same way that Tony did in 2008's Iron Man. Take a look at the trailer below.

Some notable additions to the MCU in the Ironheart show include a character played by Alden Ehrenreich, and the return of Jim Rash's character from MIT, first seen in Captain America: Civil War. It also looks like the show will be set mostly in Riri's hometown of Chicago, a nice break from our usual locations of New York or Washington, DC.

It should be said that while Obadiah Stane and Tony Stark went way back in Iron Man, Riri doesn't know much about The Hood at the start of her show. Her willingness to trust a man who she doesn't know well thus puts her in a different position than Tony, who was betrayed by a longtime family friend. For the sake of the smartest women in the Marvel Universe, let's hope that Riri keeps an eye on The Hood.

Ironheart will begin streaming on Disney+ on June 24.
