Don't expect a Superman movie panel at San Diego Comic-Con; DC Studios co-head James Gunn says it's all Peacemaker and John Cena this year
With Superman hitting the box office earlier that month, the stage will be clear to focus on Peacemaker season two for DC at San Diego Comic-Con.

Every year, the comic book world descends upon California for San Diego Comic-Con. While there are always big announcements from the world of comics themselves, increasingly the big story out of SDCC is what is happening in the cinematic world of DC and Marvel. Of course, DC has its own panel at the convention this year, but James Gunn says he will be there to talk about Peacemaker season two rather than Superman, which will be in theaters by then.
The question was posed to James Gunn on social media – would he be bringing anything Superman-related to San Diego Comic-Con this year? Would the panel there have any announcements about the wider DC Studios projects that Gunn is overseeing? His answer was simple; “It’s just me and John and Peacemaker. Though of course I’ll talk about everything.”
It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that James Gunn isn’t focusing on Superman at SDCC this year; the movie will already be out and (hopefully) soaring to box-office glory. The job of promoting it will already be done. At best, DC might be ready to announce work on a potential sequel, depending on how the movie performs.
But there is always the chance that James Gunn is lying and he’ll bring out something special for us at San Diego Comic Con. We wouldn’t get our hopes up for anything on the scale of Marvel announcing Robert Downey Jr. would be Dr. Doom, but we wouldn’t put it past them to try to steal the show with an announcement about the future of DC films and TV shows.
