AMC's Mayfair Witches cast and writers tease mindblowing season 2 moments and reveal what it takes to bring Anne Rice's books to television life
Who is Rowan's dad? Who is Rowan's baby daddy? Will there be even more baby mama drama for Rowan in season 2? The witchy cast and creators of Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches sat down at NYCC 2024 with Popverse's host witch, Ashley Victoria Robinson, to reveal all.

Rowan’s secrets were just the beginning of the supernatural drama on AMC’s hit show Mayfair Witches, and the cast, showrunner, and executive producer of the series showed up at New York Comic Con 2024 for Popverse to try and get a bit more of the tea — blood tea? — about what fans can expect in the second season when it arrives.
Popverse’s own Ashley V. Robinson sat down with Esta Spalding (Showrunner), Mark Johnson (Executive Producer), Tongayi Chirisa (Ciprien Grieve), Alyssa Jirrels (Moira Mayfair), and Harry Hamlin (Cortland Mayfair) to find out the details about new characters, crossover potential with the rest of the Anne Rice Universe, and more, as well as just to ask… how does a show like this even come together?
Mark Johnson said that the key to bringing Anne Rice’s trilogy of novels to television is “to make sure you get the spirit right, so you don’t have to be faithful to the letter of the books. I think that [Rice] would have embraced that,” describing the books as “a road map” that showrunner Esta Spalding has built on, “so it surprised the people who are fans of the books, and those of us who thought we knew what was coming. And that’s good!”
Amongst those surprised are the cast themselves, with Alyssa Jirrels, Tongayi Chirisa, and Harry Hamlin all attesting to their love of what Spalding brings to the show. “I did not know the full extent of his character and what he was up to,” Hamlin said about Cortland Mayfair’s revelations in the first season, adding, “I’m still learning what he’s up to and what he can do. I’m surprised every time I pick up a new script.”
