It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Luke Cage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Mike Colter was last seen as Cage during the final episode of Jessica Jones in 2019. Since then, Marvel’s other Netflix heroes like Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher have returned to the MCU. While nothing is confirmed, there are rumors that Colter could appear in Daredevil: Born Again season two alongside some of his Defenders costars.
If Colter does return to Marvel, there’s one particular comic book storyline he would like to see adapted.
“I’d like to see where Jessica and he have a child,” Colter says during a panel at Dragon Con. “I would like to explore that, it would be kind of cool. Because that’s something that Alias started with Jessica Jones with [Brian Michael Bendis]. That source of material had that character have a child.”
In the comics, Jessica Jones becomes pregnant after a casual encounter with Luke. The two decide to get married and raise the baby together. Their daughter, Danielle Cage, was born in The Pulse #13 (2006).
“I would be interested to see how they would co-parent, or parent, and still fight crime. You’ve got to manage your life, who is going to take care of the kid? And do we need to take care of the kid? Can the kid take care of themselves? You get home, I don’t know, give him some remote control. Does the kid have powers?”
Honestly, if the MCU ever decides to do a superhero family sitcom, the Cage family would be perfect.
Daredevil: Born Again season two premieres on Disney+ in March 2026.
