NCIS season 23 release date: When the flagship series will return to CBS

The long-running show that launched the NCIS franchise is returning to CBS this fall.

Originally a spinoff of JAG, NCIS has become a franchise in its own right since the flagship series debuted in 2003. In the intervening years, several spinoffs of NCIS hit the airwaves. These included NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, NCIS: Hawaii, NCIS: Sydney and NCIS: Origins. While the first three of these spinoffs have concluded, NCIS: Sydney and NCIS: Origins are ongoing, as is the flagship series. But when exactly can you expect the release date of NCIS season 23 on CBS?

The NCIS season 23 premiere release date is October 14 at 8:00 PM ET on CBS. New episodes of the season will debut on a weekly basis after that. This Tuesday night programming block will open with NCIS and continue with new episodes of NCIS: Sydney and NCIS: Origins. Previously, NCIS season 22 concluded on May 5, 2025, so there will fortunately only be five months between the two seasons' releases. Currently, no trailer is available for NCIS season 23. However, you can plan your viewing schedule in the meantime, since NCIS is only one of the scintillating shows coming your way this fall.

NCIS follows a team of special agents charged with investigating crimes that are connected to the U.S. Navy or Marine Corps. The series follows Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray), Special Agent Nickolas “Nick” Torres (Wilmer Valderrama), Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen), Forensic Scientist Kasie Hines (Diona Reasonover), Special Agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law), NCIS Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) and NCIS Special Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole). In the shocking NCIS season 22 finale, Parker's father was murdered by mob boss Carla Marino (Rebecca De Mornay). In NCIS season 23, you can expect him to be seeking revenge.

Season 23 of NCIS will debut on October 14 on CBS.
