Fast & Furious tokyo drifts into the one place it hasn't gone before - live-action TV
Expect cars and family to be at the forefront of the Fast and Furious' small screen reincarnation

Say what you want about The Fast & The Furious franchise, but it is never afraid to go to new places. Sometimes that includes an ill-advised trip to space, and sometimes that means changing the way that fans see their favorite over-the-top car chases and action on screen. The future of The Fast & The Furious isn’t on the big screen, with Vin Diesel confirming that a new Fast & Furious TV show is in development at NBC for Peacock.
The announcement of a Fast & Furious TV show came during an NBCUniversal upfront presentation in New York on May 11, 2026. Standing beside Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, franchise star Vin Diesel explained that it is all about giving fans more of what they want.
“For the last decade, we have realized that the fans have wanted more,” Diesel declared. “They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories. And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space that Fallon has mastered. And I had to wait till it was right… It became right when Donna Langley started to oversee it all, because that’s when I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family would be protected in the TV space… The news that I have here today is that Peacock is launching four shows from the ‘Fast & Furious’ universe.”
There is some confusion around the four shows, however, as NBC Universal has only officially confirmed one show for Peacock. Other Fast & Furious TV shows are said to be in various stages of development, and it's likely that Diesel accidentally spilled some beans that he wasn't supposed to live on stage. No use crying over spilled motor oil.
This isn't technically the first Fast & Furious television series; Fast & Furious: Spy Racers, an animated spin-off of the movie franchise, ran for six seasons under the radar on Netflix from 2019 through 2021, centering around Dom Toretto's cousin, Tony, as voiced by Tyler Posey. Yes, it ran six seasons in three years; the cars aren't the only thing that are fast, it seems.
What the new Fast & Furious TV show will entail is still unknown, but we can expect it to include lots of physics-defying car chases and cameos. We expect Vin Diesel to make at least one appearance, but will Peacock want to shell out for Dwayne Johnson or Jason Statham? We’ll be waiting expectantly to find out - and also wondering if the shows will debut before the final movie in the big screen series, which is currently scheduled for March 17, 2028.
