Sheriff Country Season 2 on CBS: Eva Santos reveal, time jump, release date and everything we know

The finale for the first season of Sheriff Country aired on May 22nd, 2026, leaving fans stunned with a big reveal - and wondering when the second season of the show will arrive. Thankfully, Sheriff Country has already been renewed for a second season by CBS, and new episodes of the show will arrive in the fall of 2026.

Sheriff Country is the first spinoff of the Fire Country franchise. Fire Country originally debuted in 2022, and Morena Baccarin's character, Sheriff Mickey Fox, was introduced in the second season. Fire Country and Sheriff Country are closely related, with characters appearing on both shows and a two-part crossover episode during Sheriff Country's first season. Sheriff Country also stars Matt Lauria as Lieutenant Nathan Boone, Christopher Gorham as ADA Travis Fraley, Michele Weaver as Deputy Cassidy Campbell, W. Earl Brown as Mickey's father Wes Fox, Amanda Arcuri as Skye Fraley and Ian Quinlan as Deputy Hank Iglesias.

The second season will pick up from the shock Season 1 finale, which not only killed off Mickey's love interest Alec Kane, but also revealed that FBI Deputy Director Eva Santos (Rachel Ticotin) is actually Mickey's mother Maria Fox, whom she'd believed was dead. "In the first episode of Season 2, we obviously have some stuff to unpack," showrunner Matt Lopez said in an interview post-season finale. "In the first episode of Season 2, the audience will discover how Mickey's understanding of those events differs from what actually happened, and there are some really juicy twists and turns along the way."

Lopez also teased that there's "a little bit of a time jump" between Seasons 1 and 2, as well as "a fun reveal about what happened in the moments we missed." Fans might want to prepare for a status quo change when the show returns, based on that hint...

Sheriff Country Season 2 will be coming your way as part of CBS's fall 2026 line-up. The show is slated to air at 8pm Eastern and Pacific, 7pm Central, on Fridays, ahead of a new episode of Fire Country an hour later. While CBS has yet to announce an official return date for the show, based on past season debuts, expect Sheriff Country Season 2 to begin in late September 2026.
