Throughout Smallville’s ten-season run, Lex Luthor did plenty of horrible things. The villain tortured and experimented on people, committed murder, and betrayed his closest friends. However, there’s one act that Lex committed which was too much for his actor Michael Rosenbaum.
“I hated what he did to Lana,” Rosenbaum says during a panel at Comic Con Revolution 2025. “I didn’t like that. I didn’t think it was necessary. I didn’t think he had to do that. That’s the one thing I didn’t like.”
Rosenbaum is referring to a season six storyline where Lex tricks Lana into marrying him by making her believe she’s pregnant. Lex accomplishes this by secretly injecting her with hormones and bribing her doctors. He later fakes a miscarriage, emotionally devastating Lana. While this act was too much, Rosenbaum has fond memories of Lex’s other crimes.
“I loved throwing my dad off the building. That was awesome. I loved killing my sister. Those were all good things,” Rosenbaum jokes.
In other words, patricide and sororicide is okay, but Lex Luthor draws the line at fake pregnancies.
