Spider-Noir was "conceived to be as many seasons as we want," says showrunner

Will Spider-Noir season 2 get the greenlight on Prime Video? Maybe, maybe not - but showrunner Oren Uziel says its hard-boiled detective trappings certainly make it possible

Will Spider-Noir have a season 2?

We're technically still a few days away from Spider-Noir's first (and, to date, only confirmed) season dropping, but already the internet is abuzz about whether or not Nic Cage will get to come back for another case as the hard-boiled private eye Ben Reilly. And while Prime Video has released no comment regarding more adventures in the 1930s-set Marvel Universe timeline, the show's future does have one thing going for it, according to someone deeply involved in its creation: showrunner Oren Uziel.

Uziel recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter regarding a possible season 2 of the Spider-Verse spinoff, which the Mortal Kombat veteran said sprung from the question, "What if we made a Bogart movie where Bogart just happened to be Spider-Man?" Yeah, it's kind of a silly ask, but the way Uziel tells it, that way of looking at the show is also a big reason why a Spider-Noir season 2 is possible.

"One of the magical things about any private detective story," said Uziel, "is, if you want another story, all it takes is another client to knock on that door, and then comes a new set of cases, a new set of problems and a new adventure to go on [...] So [it’s] conceived to be as many seasons as we want to go."

Of course, Spider-Noir is hardly a one-hero operation, and no amount of love for the genre means Uziel can produce another chapter alone. But even in this category there's hope for more, as the show's producers, Spider-Verse filmmakers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, also see a future for the story of the pulpy wallcrawler.

"We are television producers," Lord said of Spider-Noir season 2, "We’re not gonna say no."

Spider-Noir season 1 debuts on Prime Video May 27.
