Star Trek: Picard showrunner Terry Matalas has an idea for his next exciting Star Trek project. The producer is hoping to follow Picard’s success with a show called Star Trek: Legacy. The series would feature various legacy characters from the franchise. Matalas has spoken about the potential series in various interviews, but for now Paramount has no plans to greenlit the series.
Speaking to a crowd at Tampa Bay Comic Convention, former Trek actress Denise Crosby revealed that she had conversations with Matalas about the series. Crosby played Tasha Yar in Star Trek: The Next Generation, and later appeared as Yar’s daughter Sela. In fact, Crosby told the crowd that Sela would’ve had a storyline in Star Trek: Legacy.
“I spoke to Terry Matalas, he would love to do a storyline with Sela,” Crosby said. “I don’t know that he’s going to ever get his Legacy show off the ground. Foolishly, I don’t know why they won’t give him the keys to the kingdom. Clearly he’s had success and knows what he’s doing. He has talked to me about it, and you never know. I never thought I could come back from the dead, and I did.”
Crosby brings up a good point - resurrection is a key part of Star Trek. While Star Trek: Legacy might seem dead now, there’s always hope that the potential series could take flight.
