Celia Rose Gooding gets candid about saying goodbye to Strange New Worlds: “We’ll cry later — right now, we still have a universe to save”

As Strange New Worlds enters its last chapter, the crew reflects on their Star Trek legacy: “This family lives far beyond the series."

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds may be coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean the journey is over for the cast.

The show’s fifth and final season is currently in production, but the crew of the starship Enterprise doesn’t see it as a goodbye. In fact, they know that their Star Trek journey still has many years left in it, even after the show is over.

“There’s so much more Trek coming from us,” Uhura actress Celia Rose Gooding says during a Star Trek panel at New York Comic Con. “Our chapter of filming may be coming to a close, but we still have as many conventions as they’ll let us show up to. We still have all of the press upcoming for the upcoming season.”

Gooding went on to say that the emotional weight hasn’t hit them yet because of how busy they are filming. “We’re so in it that I think on that last day when we’re all like weeping and holding each other, that’s when we realize that it’s behind us, but there’s a lot more Trek coming. We don’t got time to mourn. We got a universe to save, baby.”
