Jared Padalecki reveals The Boys season 5 will be split into two parts

Asked about a Supernatural reunion on Prime Video's superhero satire, Padalecki revealed when he'd be sharing screentime with both Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins. And in doing so, revealed a key facet of the final season's release

I might be wrong, but I don't think that the attendees of Jared Padalecki's panel at Fan Expo Boston were necessarily looking for info on The Boys season 5 release schedule. However, in asking about the Supernatural mini-reunion that is already confirmed to be on the show - that is, the moment Padalecki shares screentime with both Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins - one fan got Padalecki to spill some details about Prime Video's release of the final season.

Apparently, The Boys season 5 will be released in two parts.

The quote comes from Fan Expo Boston coverage that appeared on Collider, in an article published August 12. Specifically, it comes out of a part of the Padalecki panel in which the Gilmore Girls star was talking about when he would be onscreen with Misha Collins (Supernatural's angelic Castiel) and Jensen Ackles (Supernatural's Dean Winchester and The Boys' Soldier Boy) again.

"It’s Episode 5 of Season 5," said Padalecki, "I think they’re putting out the first four episodes and then a little bit of time and then the final four episodes."

While this may come as news to fans of The Boys, it shouldn't be too much of a surprise for anyone keeping up with modern streaming trends. Streaming services like Netflix are leveraging a "multi-part" season release schedule for some of their biggest finales, such as the Stranger Things season 5 wrap up, which will happen in 3 parts. Heck, even shows like Wednesday had a bifurcated release schedule this year, despite it being nowhere near over.

Needless to say, it's not exactly great news for fans of the show who would rather be able to watch the full story all at once. Good things come to those who wait, I guess?

The Boys season 5 is expected to start streaming on Amazon Prime in 2026.
