The Chi season 7 release date: Showtime brings us back to the South Side of Chicago again in May 2025, with a potential season 8 on the way
The new season of The Chi is coming and might not be the last season of Showtime's hit drama.

Since the first season landed on Showtime back in 2018, The Chi has been one of the network's most celebrated shows. With The Chi season seven coming soon, we don’t have much time to catch up with everything that has happened on the South Side of Chicago and the long, sometimes unbelievable journey the residents have gone on. The Chi season seven’s release date is coming and we should all get ready for what comes next.
The good thing about having such a large ensemble cast is that it allows the production team to have more flexibility with how they approach their stories. Famously, Jason Mitchell was a core part of the cast until multiple allegations of sexual misconduct saw him fired after the second season of the show. Other characters have come and gone as the actors sought other opportunities or their individual stories wrapped up. That means that when The Chi season seven starts on May 16, 2025, its cast will look remarkably different from when the show started.
The best news is that this doesn’t look like it will be the final season of The Chi, either. While season eight hasn’t been confirmed by Showtime, the network has commissioned a writers’ room for an eighth season, which is a good indicator that they’re at least interested in one more season of The Chi. Most likely, they’re going to see how ratings for season seven are first but want to be ready to get the production team back together quickly if the numbers look good.
The Chi season seven comes out on May 16, 2025 on Paramount+ before debuting on Showtime two days later.
