The Pitt Season 3 is going to be more political than ever
The Pitt Season 3 is airing in January 2027, but star Noah Wyle explains why the action takes place in November 2026.

One bit of TV magic that doesn’t always seem obvious is how the writers have to try to predict the future. Most episodes are written and filmed months in advance, so trying to do anything remotely topical is nearly impossible. However, The Pitt star Noah Wyle says they are going to do just that. This is probably going to make The Pitt Season 3 the most political season of the HBO Max hit yet.
During an interview that was primarily about the show’s recent Emmy nominations, Noah Wyle gave fans another sneak peek at what to expect with The Pitt Season 3. Production of the third season is already underway, with new episodes expected to air in January 2027. This season will feel a little different from the first two.
“Up until now, we’ve plotted our show almost in real time when people are watching,” Noah Wyle explained. “We’ve written the shows eight months before we air, but we’ve written them to take place in the time and place in which they are being watched this season. We didn’t do that this season. What we’re depicting is Thursday, November 12, 2026 and it will be aired in January of 2027. So we will be talking about where we’ve just been for the first time, and not where we’re going.”
The reason for this change in approach is down to the real-world events we’re all constantly focused on. “That decision was made because there’s going to be a lot of anticipation and fear and preparation going into January and the execution of the Big Beautiful Bill that will have a lot of ramifications in Americans’ lives. We wanted to focus on what those last couple of months of the year are going to be like and what most people are going to have to do to prepare themselves for a very harsh reality in the next seven to eight years, to underscore the point of how desperate this particular moment in time is.”
No one can truly escape the deeply political world that we find ourselves in, which is why The Pitt Season 3 is going to embrace it rather than hide from it. I mean, it isn't like any important events will take place in the first half of November that will have major implications for the future of America, right?
