Nathan Fillion flew into theaters around the world this summer as the space cop Green Lantern, Guy Gardner. And this winter, he hops back into the saddle as a regular cop whose feet seldom leave the ground in The Rookie season 8 on ABC. So when does it all go down?

The Rookie season 8 release date January 6, 2026 at 10/9c on ABC. The season premiere is called Czech Mate, and was filmed in the Czech Republic's city of Prague - a place that more American TV shows and movies should shoot in, in my opinion. Great city!

Season 8 of The Rookie has a lot of business to address after how season 7 left things off. In the finale of season 7, Nathan Fillion's character, John Nolan, was kidnapped by the villainous Oscar Hutchison. Luckily, Nolan was rescued by Nyla, but unfortunately, Oscar escaped. So where has Oscar been? How is Nolan's mental health since he was kidnapped and then rescued? Nolan has been around the block a few times, but even someone like him doesn't just walk off from an incident like that without feeling any effects.

The Rookie season 8 will premiere on ABC on January 6, 2026 at 10/9c.
