What to Watch October 2025: Halloween is just around the corner, and Netflix's Monster: The Ed Gein Story, Prime Video's Hazbin Hotel, and HBO's IT: Welcome to Derry are just a few ways to stream and scream

Looking for something to stream as All Hallow's Eve 2025 approaches? We've got you covered, just be warned: there's some real-life horror waiting on your favorite streaming platform this October

If you're like me, you probably already have some Halloween plans figured out (though it is hard to book an exorcist these days, isn't it?), and a big part of that is asking yourself what you're going to watch for the most macabre of seasons. Well, your favorite streaming services know that you'll be seeking out thrills and chills this coming month, and we've put together a What to Watch October 2025 list to tell you all of their offerings.

Lock your doors and settle in for a scare, from the likes of Pennywise and more than a few real-life monsters of the true crime variety. And for those of you who try to spend your Halloween seasons digging into animated frights, get ready to have that particular itch scratched.

What's streaming on Netflix in October 2025

It certainly isn't 'spooky fun,' but if the horror stories you're interested in are the real-life kind, then Netflix's Monster: The Ed Gein Story is probably already on your to-watch list for this coming month. But in case that kind of fare is too much for you (and for real - we don't blame you), Netflix is also bringing a different kind of "true horror" to life with the Blumhouse-produced, Maya Hawke-narrated Nightmares of Nature, which takes a look at the dark side of animal life.

What's streaming on Amazon Prime Video in October 2025

Whether or not it was actually debuting during the Halloween season, the second chapter of Hazbin Hotel would already be a high priority for all you devilishly dark-humored weirdos out there. But Prime's not-so-scary musical hellscape isn't the only terror-turned tale heading to the streamer, as master of the macabre Harlan Coben is coming out with the psychological thriller Lazarus, starring frequent monster-player Bill Nighy.

Title Streaming Date Type
House of David, season 2 October 5 Live-action series
Harlan Coben's Lazarus, season 1 October 22 Live-action series
NBA on Prime October 24 Live sporting event
Hazbin Hotel, season 2 October 29 Animated series

What's streaming on HBO Max in October 2025

I won't lie, HBO Max is going to be where I'm spending a lot of my Halloween watching hours, mainly because Andy Muschiette and Bill Skarsgård are teaming up once again to return to that most awful of Stephen King small towns. IT: Welcome to Derry will act as a prequel to the blockbuster horror franchise that reintroduced Pennywise to the American subconscious and inspired plenty of nightmares in the process.

Title Streaming Date Type
IT: Welcome to Derry, season 1 October 26 Live-action series

What's streaming on Hulu in October 2025

Joining Netflix in tapping into real-life murder is Hulu, which is bringing the Patricia Arquette-starring adaptation of a popular true-crime podcast to life with Murdaugh: Death in the Family. That said, I'll be keeping my eye on the new episodes of Solar Opposites, since Hulu's weirdo scifi sitcom usually comes out with some great Halloween fun around this time of year.

Title Streaming Date Type
Solar Opposites, season 6 October 13 Animated series
Murdaugh: Death in the Family, season 1 October 15 Live-action series

What's streaming on Paramount+ in October 2025

I spent quite a while trying to think of how I could tie the Jeremy Renner-starring Mayor of Kingstown into this spirit of the season (politics are scary?), and I'm not gonna lie, I couldn't get there. So maybe Paramount is the place to go if you want a relief from all the scary things that will be streaming this month? You know, because nothing terrifying is currently going on at that company.

Title Streaming Date Type
Mayor of Kingstown, season 4 October 26 Live-action series

What's streaming on Disney+ in October 2025

I have argued for a while that Star Wars could use an injection of horror, and even though it doesn't seem like there's anything actually trending that way in the franchise, you can look at the image above and see that Star Wars: Visions is at least dealing with some pretty scary imagery. Who knows? Maybe that zombie stormtrooper idea will appear somewhere in the show's third season? Guess we'll know on October 29.

Title Streaming Date Type
Star Wars: Visions, season 3 October 29 Animated series
Firebuds, season 3 October 29 Animated series

What's coming to Peacock in October 2025

Boy, everyone's leaning into the true crime thing this October, huh? I'm just gonna say this now, gang, don't go dressing as one of these real-life serial killers at your Halloween parties if you don't want to get in some social media hot water. All that to say - Peacock is spending October telling the story of another real-life monster with Devil in Disguise, John Wayne Gacy, premiering October 15.

Title Streaming Date Type
Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy, season 1 October 16 Live-action series

What's coming to Apple TV+ in October 2025

And finally, Apple TV+ is bringing the kind of dark fantasy most appropriate for fall when it debuts the animated Sisters Grimm, an adaptation of the children's series written by Michael Buckley and illustrated by Peter Ferguson. This is the "witch in the woods," "fairies stealing your loved ones" kind of horror, very much outside the realm of reality. And honestly? After all the serial killer stuff that's coming out this month, I'm pretty grateful.

Title Streaming Date Type
The Sisters Grimm, season 1 October 3 Animated series
The Last Frontier, season 1 October 10 Live-action series
Loot, season 3 October 15 Live-action series
Mr. Scorsese, season 1 October 17 Docuseries
Down Cemetery Road, season 1 October 29 Live-action series

That's all the major streaming movies and TV shows on our radar right now, but we'll be updating this list as more information becomes available. For those updates, and for all you need to know about the future of streaming, keep an eye on Popverse.

Grant DeArmitt

Grant DeArmitt: Grant DeArmitt (he/him) likes horror, comics, and the unholy union of the two. In the past, and despite their better judgment, he has written for Nightmare on Film Street and Newsarama. He lives in Brooklyn with his partner, Kingsley, and corgi, Legs.
