What the cast and creators of What We Do in the Shadows have to say about their upcoming finale

All good things must come to an end

It is true that all good things must come to an end. Fan favorite vampire comedy What We Do in the Shadows certainly is facing that fate now, as the series heads into its sixth and final season. At San Diego Comic Con, the cast and creators of the beloved show took the stage at Hall H to celebrate the show's successful seasons and great moments with fans as well as show the very first episode of the next season (spoiler: it's very funny).

But really the panel (which consisted of showrunner Paul Simms, director and producer Kyle Newacheck, as well as cast members Kayvan Novak,  Matt Berry, Mark Proksch, and Kristen Schaal), instead of looking to the show's future, was focused on the past, as the cast and creators of the show spoke to what it was like to say goodbye.

About the show's cancellation, Matt Berry said "We kind of knew that it was on it's way, and it's kind of the perfect time. I think it's as good as it ever was." Mark Proksch added, "You don't want to overstay your welcome and you don't want to become a parody of yourself." Kirsten Schaal, a newer addition to the cast, disagreed though, saying, "Absolutely not. The stories could have gone on and on, there's so much to explore in this world." Though she joked that her character could have gotten a lot more play, she continued on a little more seriously "It was the first project I ever worked on where I knew it was gonna end... I'm happy that it's ending on a high note. I think that is a smart decision, but I'm sad because there's no other show like it in the world."

What We Do in the Shadows season 6 debuts October 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
