Three of the big comics in this Wednesday, May 13's new comic book release day are Absolute Batman #20, Absolute Martian Manhunter #11, and Barbara Gordon: Breakout #1. Some retailers who get their comics shipment extra early have been talking privately about some issues with their copies however, and DC Comics is trying to get ahead of it.
In a rare movie, DC has sent out a retailer-wide notice that they are aware of what they call "manufacturing defects" with these three titles. WHile in some cases it has asked that retailers not selling comics such as these and wait for corrected reprints, DC is encouraging retailers to go ahead and put these on sale May 13 to avoid any delays for fans.
The publisher isn't asking retailers and fans to just deal with it apparently, as they say plans are afoot to resolve the issue.
"We are investigating the defects and putting together plans for amelioration and will provide a follow-up update early next week," reads the DC notice to retailers. "Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this as quickly as possible. We empathize with the position this situation has put you in and we appreciate your continued support."
