Absolute Batman isn’t just a hit for DC Comics — it’s helping Image Comics five-fold according to its COO

Absolute Batman is helping Image Comics get better sales numbers (yes, you read that correctly)

DC Comics isn’t the only publisher thrilled with the success of Absolute Batman. The series was the best-selling comic of 2024, and subsequent issues have continued to break sales records and top the charts. You would think this might frighten other companies, but Image Comics' co-owner/CCO Robert Kirkman couldn’t be more pleased.

Kirkman, who you also might know as the writer behind The Walking Dead, Invincible, and the current Transformers run, readily admits that the rarified air that Absolute Batman has achieved in terms of sales and fan interest is helping not just Absolute Batman, Absolute DC, and DC Comics... but he's seeing it over at Image as well.

“Everybody’s talking about how many new people Absolute Batman is bringing into the comic book stores, but those people go into the comic book stores and they buy a copy of Absolute Batman, and they walk out with five Image Comics as well," Robert Kirkman says during a recent appearance on Robservations with Rob Liefeld.

Kirkman has experience with that, as his The Walking Dead series with Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard has had a similar effect of bringing new readers into comics as well.

"So, it’s a good time for all of us," he adds.

Have you ever heard the phrase ‘a rising tide raises all ships?’ Well in this case, consider Batman the ultimate rising tide.

Here's an update to date guide on the Absolute Batman release schedule.
