Marvel is making an R-rated Fantastic Four comic where they all become zombies
Marvel Zombies: Red Band will retell the Fantastic Four's first space voyage with an undead twist

Popverse's top stories
- The MCU Ironheart TV series makes the case for why killing Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame was the smartest thing the Marvel Studios has ever done
- The found-footage subgenre finds new bite as a trend in horror lit with Paul Tremblay's Horror Movie and Richard Chizmar's Memorials
- Ripped from the pages of John Wick, James Gunn's Superman appears to center on the kidnapping of the Man of Steel's dog (and I love it)
Zombies are certainly en vogue this summer (just look at 28 Years Later), and Marvel Comics is capitalizing on this by bringing in the Fantastic Four into the mix. Enter Marvel Zombies: Red Band, a new 5-issue mini-series from Marvel Comics that will go heavy on gore as it reimagines the foundations of the Marvel Universe as we know it.
Written by Ethan S. Parker and Griffin Sheridan, and drawn by Jan Bazaldua, Marvel Zombies: Red Band reimagines the classic story of the Fantastic Four's voyage into space. In addition to returning to Earth with superpowers, they're coming back with a case of the zombie virus. Marvel promises that we will "travel back to the birth of a Marvel Universe parallel to our own but chock-full of horror since its very inception! Which heroes will rise to become the champions we know and love? Which will be torn limb from limb? And which will devour the scraps?"
The first two covers for Marvel Zombies: Red Band are drawn by Greg Land. The variant covers for issue #1 are drawn by Clayton Crain, Ryan Brown, and Scott Koblish. Check them out below.

Because this series will be published under Marvel's Red Band imprint, each issue will be polybagged and stamped with a Parental Advisory warning. That's a good thing. Having worked at a comic shop for years, you'd be surprised the amount of elementary school-aged kids who pick up single issues of Carnage. Marvel says that the "Red Band imprint unleashes the full potential of Marvel Zombies storytelling, shattering any limits on gore, blood and horror! In the upcoming saga, the undead will consume Marvel Comics history, ravaging pivotal stories with their insatiable hunger including the fateful space voyage of Marvel’s First Family and the original Secret Wars!" Sounds tasty.
Marvel Zombies: Red Band #1 will be released September 17, with issue #2 arriving October 12.
