Ask comic book fans who their favorite writer and artist is, and chances are, Frank Miller’s name will get mentioned. The man who shaped Daredevil and Batman for the modern era – and whose influence continues to be felt in both comic books and films today – is easily one of the most influential comic book creators of all time. Now, he’s writing his own book on creating memorable comic books in a mixture of masterclass and personal memoir.

Push The Wall: My Life, Writing, Drawing, and the Art of Storytelling is the upcoming memoir from Frank Miller that also promises to reveal his advice on how to both write and draw. From his groundbreaking work on Daredevil to his iconic take on an older and more determined Batman in The Dark Knight Returns, through to his standalone works like 300 and Sin City, Frank Miller has one of the most impressive catalogues of comic books in history. That is probably why fans and budding artists and writers are eager to find out more about his process and storytelling philosophy.
This new memoir/masterclass from Frank Miller condenses his work into 16 lessons to help other artists find their footing. Through these lessons, Push The Wall includes stories from Miller’s life, starting as “a seventeen-year-old kid from Vermont into a seedy 1970s New York City” and tracing his career through his breakthrough working on Daredevil and Wolverine before he jumped to DC and wrote arguably the most iconic Batman comic of all time.
If you’re a comic book fan or someone interested in creating your own comics one day, Push The Wall: My Life, Writing, Drawing, and the Art of Storytelling by Frank Miller is a must-have when it goes on sale July 14, 2026.
