Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Nic Klein's Hulk saga has ripped the Hulk in two, and in its place created a new eldritch evil version of the Jade Giant known as the Infernal Hulk. Now that the Infernal Hulk has beaten the Hulk, he is taking on Marvel's other big heroes in a monster quest with the goal of triggering an 'Age of Monsters' where all of Marvel's heroes become corrupt.

This part of the saga kicks off this September with a one-shot titled Infernal Hulk vs. Wolverine, and now we know it'll be a series of one-shots leading towards a showdown with the entire Avengers team as revealed in Marvel's Next Big Thing panel at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2026. Here's how it unfolds:

• September 2026: Infernal Hulk vs. Wolverine by Johnson and artist Jonas Scharf
• October 2026: Infernal Hulk vs. Fantastic Four by Johnson and artist Cian Tormey
• November 2026: Infernal Hulk vs. Spider-Man by Johnson and artist Javier Pina
• December 2026: Infernal Hulk vs. Avengers by Johnson and an artist to be announced

"Infernal Hulk has gathered his armies, his fortress, and now his champions. All the pieces are on the board, and all of our greatest heroes have been corrupted except the last of the Avengers," reads Marvel's description of Infernal Hulk vs. Avengers. "Can they succeed where all others have failed?"

This is leading to a 2027 event titled Hulk War, which Johnson has talked to Popverse about recently.

"Act two has a lot more interactivity with other members of the Marvel Universe. We start to see other players really start to take notice of what Hulk is doing. We see Namor, we see the Avengers, we're about to see the X-Men. That's going to ramp up and up and up until we get to Hulk War," Johnson told us back in April. "Hulk War is about, as we've seen in the Hulkscape, all the different Hulk alters are still in there. And without spoiling it too much, Hulk War is the act in which we see multiple Hulks against each other," Johnson said.
