Mary Jane Watson has been many things.

Actor.

Wife.

Venom.

Following the events of the Mary Jane: Face It, Tiger and Queen in Black comics, Mary Jane is shedding all of those for a new one: Hollywood producer, as announced during Marvel's Next Big Thing panel at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2026.

”Mary Jane, now that she doesn’t have a symbiote… she’s going to go a little bit back to basics, she’s going to return to show business. But has the world of superheroes left her behind?”

DC Milestone Initiative Program graduate Ashley Allen (Magik, Magik & Colossus, Moonstar) is partnering with superstar artist Phil Noto (Star Wars, Infinite Horizon, Black Widow, Uncanny X-Force) on a series where MJ is starting a new business, and runs across an old Spidey foe.

"Mary Jane Watson—model, actress, hero—is taking on a new role: producer!" reads Marvel's description of the series. "But when Chameleon sets his sights on sabotage, Mary Jane will need to use every tool in her arsenal—including a top secret gift from Venom—to come out on top."

While the details of how Mary Jane eschews her role as host of Venom remain under wraps for now, we do know that Venom will be returning to his most memorable host, Eddie Brock, in a relaunch of the Venom series.

Friendly Neighborhood Mary Jane #1 (of 5) goes on sale this November.
