The future of DC’s JSA is uncertain after Jeff Lemire’s imminent departure.

DC Comics' original superteam is nearing the end of an era, as the 'DC All In' run of writer Jeff Lemire is ending. Part of the first wave of 'DC All In' titles in late 2024, the JSA series by Lemire, artist Diego Olortegui, and others has become one of the most well-received versions of the classic heroes in the past few decades.

And although Lemire's run is ending with October's JSA #24, he says he hasn't been told by DC if they plan to continue the series after his finale.

"I am not sure what DC's plans are. They may continue with another creative team," Lemire says during an AMA at League of Comic Geeks. "I have not heard yet. But #24 is my final issue."

Lemire spoke fondly about his run, even laying out how he sees the team if they were Voltron.

"Alan the head, Jay the heart...Hourman the right arm. Wildcat, the left.  Atom Smasher and Jesse Quick the legs and it would hold Stargirl's Cosmic Staff and have the Hawk's wings and Fate's helmet," says Lemire.

Lemire went on to say that the size of the JSA roster being so big became a real challenge, but he found a method to keep it organized.

"It is definitely challenging writing such a big cast," says Lemire. "Breaking them up into smaller groups and giving them each plots and stories that eventually dovetail back together is the best method I've found."

JSA #1 through #21 is on sale now, with #22 set for August 5, #23 on September 2, and then Lemire's finale in October.
