DC have created a new Justice League spin-off team that Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman don't know about - so don't share this article with them

Who watches the watchmen? We'll leave that to Alan Moore, but there's a Justice League inside the Justice League that even the big three don't know about

Keeping a secret from DC’s Justice League isn’t easy. After all, some of them can see microscopically, hear everything, and, you know, one of them happens to be the world’s finest detective. So imagine what it would take to have a secret Justice League inside the Justice League — a covert operations team that the main heroes doesn’t even know exists? That’s the hook of DC’s new comic book series, Justice League Red.

Written by Saladin Ahmed (Marvel’s Daredevil) with art by Action Comics' Clayton Henry, the new series is centered around a group organized by the android Red Tornado that takes on missions even Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman don’t know anything about… because, at his core, Red Tornado knows that the assembled heroes might be the ones to bring about disaster in the future.

DC describes the series like this: “The Justice League has a new spec-ops team so covert, the founders can’t know it exists. And its leader is the only hero who could keep JLR off its radar… because he is the radar. Red Tornado is the heart and mind of the Watchtower — watching, projecting into the future, and his projections point to apocalypse as a direct result of the concentrated power of the JLU. When your Justice League ID card lights up red, Reddy needs you. For the fate of humanity, for for yourself, because you don’t want to find out what Red can do with what he knows about you.”

Suddenly, the fact that DC was letting fans get their own Justice League ID cards last year seems a little concerning, if it means that Red Tornado is using them to get people to go on secret missions…

Justice League Red launches August 20, with covers from Henry, Carmine Di Giandomenico, and Christian Ward. You can see them all in the gallery below.
