The 7 best Daredevil costumes in Marvel Comics, movies, TV, and video games
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will feature his black costume, but what are his best looks in comics, TV, and beyond?

Unlike other heroes in Marvel Comics (looking at youse, my X-Men), Daredevil hasn't had that many costumes over the years. This makes sense, though, considering Matt Murdock's intense sensory abilities. If you're at all sensitive to fabric, you'll know exactly what I mean, and I would imagine that Matt wouldn't be able to be his best as Daredevil if his suit felt weird on his skin. He's got enough on his mind!
As Popverse's resident Daredevil expert, I combed my memory banks and pulled together a list of the very best Daredevil costumes from Marvel Comics, movies, TV shows, and video games. Admittedly, Ben Affleck's Daredevil costume didn't make the list, as he looked like he had half a latex balloon vacuum-sealed to his head (ouch!) in the 2003 movie. But read on below to take a look at the Man (and Woman!) Without Fear's best looks ahead of the release of Daredevil: Born Again season 2.
Best Daredevil costumes: Daredevil's Back in Black suit from Charles Soule and Ron Garney's Daredevil #1 (2015)

Daredevil first donned a black suit in the 1990s, but this design was perfected by artist Ron Garney in his run with writer Charles Soule on Daredevil, beginning in 2015. What makes Garney's black Daredevil suit the superior one is its red details and the literal daredevil-inspired (like Evil Knievel daredevil) insignia on his chest. DD sports knee-high red lace-up combat boots, a red belt, and red gloves, which creates a better sense of color balance in the suit, breaking it up into constituent parts instead of letting Matt drown in a sea of black. Daredevil is all about acrobatics, and bringing attention to his feet and hands with red boots and gloves makes him pop more on the page. I'm a bit sad to see that Daredevil: Born Again season 2 isn't using this particular black suit.
Best Daredevil costumes: Elektra's Daredevil costume

Now I know what you may be thinking, hold up, this is a list of the best Daredevil costumes, why is Elektra here? Well, during Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto's Daredevil run, Matt went to jail for killing a man, and Ms. Elektra took up the mantle as the Woman Without Fear to keep Hell's Kitchen safe. And because she's Elektra, she's not going to be hitting the streets looking anything less than fabulous.
Marco Checchetto's design for Elektra's Daredevil suit beautifully plays with proportion. The pants of Elektra's suit are billowy (and honestly look super comfortable), contrasting the fitted silhouette of the torso. The scarf/cowl she keeps around her face and neck creates an air of mystery, reflecting her personality.
Best Daredevil costumes: Bullseye's Daredevil costume (Daredevil season 3)

In one part of Daredevil season 3, Bullseye gets his own Daredevil suit made by Melvin Potter, the same fellow who made Matt's DD suit. The reason why Bullseye's suit gets a place on this list is that it reveals how scary the suit actually is when you don't trust the man inside of it. With Bullseye in the suit, we finally understand what it's like for common criminals to see Daredevil pursue them.
Best Daredevil costumes: The Daredevil suit in Marvel Rivals

Daredevil debuted in Marvel Rivals season 4.5 with a gorgeous, armored suit inspired by Ancient Chinese lamellar armor, reflecting DD's status as the Immortal Weapon of the Eighth City. He was granted this undeniably badass gig by Yinglong, a dragon from Chinese mythology that was reimagined as the Beast - the demon that the Hand worships - in Marvel Rivals.
While I'm not big on armored Daredevil suits, his Marvel Rivals look works because there's a fantasy element to this outfit that we don't typically see with a street-level character like Daredevil. Both his devil "horns" and eyes glow, despite him not having any superpowers, which is a particularly inspired aspect of the costume. Also, his billy clubs look like they were carved from red gemstones, elevating the look altogether.
Best Daredevil costumes: King Daredevil suit (with robes from The Hand)

Later on, in the second volume of Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto's run on Daredevil, DD and Elektra became the leaders of the ninja organization known as The Hand. And as part of their new roles, they donned these cool robes over their costumes. Now, beginning with Zdarsky and Checchetto's 2022 Daredevil run, DD started sporting a hooded version of his costume (along with a big beard). But the addition of an olive green robe in Daredevil #4 (2022) really ties the whole fit together.
Best Daredevil costumes: The yellow Daredevil suit in Daredevil: Yellow

The original yellow-and-red suit that DD wore in Daredevil #1 from 1964 has never looked better than it did under Tim Sale's purview in Daredevil: Yellow, written by Jeph Loeb. While Daredevil's original threads look a bit... goofy, Sale's art renders the suit with a fluidity that isn't bound by photorealism. The suit becomes a shape, rather than just a suit.
Best Daredevil costumes: The classic red-on-red Daredevil suit

There's a reason why the red Daredevil suit has stuck around all these years. It's clean, it's instantly recognizable, and colorists and artists have had a field day with rendering it in the pages of Marvel Comics over the years. Just look at how the suit pops in Mark Waid, Chris Samnee, and Javier Rodriguez's run on Daredevil. TDevil of Hell's Kitchen need not look dour all the time.
