The wait for the new season of Doctor Who has been a long one, but, really, what is time to a Time Lord anyway? Ncuti Gatwa made his debut as the Fifteenth Doctor back in December 2023, but fans are still waiting to see his first full season land. When will the highly anticipated Doctor Who season one release date finally arrive?
It isn’t really the first season of Doctor Who, of course. The show has been around, in one capacity or another, for more than six decades by this point, but the new agreement with Disney+ to distribute the show internationally as well as a change in production team behind the scenes has prompted the show to rebrand its 14th season.
The newly minted Doctor Who season one will debut on May 11, 2024, with the first two episodes of the season available to stream from midnight, before they air on BBC One later that day. The remaining six episodes in Doctor Who season one will follow weekly, bringing the total episode count for the season to eight.
Fans in the US will get to enjoy the first two episodes of Doctor Who season one a bit earlier, though this is thanks to the curvature of the Earth rather than the power of time travel. The first two episodes in the season will air on Disney+ at 7pm on May 10, 2024.

- Doctor Who season one episode five - Dot and Bubble - 31 May 2024 EST at 7pm on Disney+
- Doctor Who season one episode six - Rogue - 7 June 2024 at 7pm EST on Disney+
- Doctor Who season one episode seven - The Legend of Ruby Sunday - 14 June 2024 at 7pm EST on Disney+
- Doctor Who season one episode eight - Empire of Death - 21 June 2024 at 7pm EST on Disney+
Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor made his debut during the 2023 Doctor Who special, The Giggle, where he “bi-generated” from David Tennant’s Fourteenth Doctor. This resulted in two Doctors existing at the same time rather than the new one totally replacing the other. We don’t know if Tennant, who also played the Tenth Doctor from 2005 to 2010, will show up in future episodes this season or if that dangling plotline will simply be lost to time.
Whether you call it Doctor Who season one or season 14, the beloved show will return on May 11, 2024 with eight new episodes.
