Ahead of its release (and to the surprise of very few paying attention), Dav Pilkey’s Dog Man: Twenty Thousand Fleas Under The Sea has taken the top spot on the list of best-selling books on Amazon.com.

No, not the best comic books, or kids books, or graphic novels; the it is currently the best-selling book in all of Amazon.com

This really isn’t an unexpected turn of events; Dog Man has been a sales juggernaut since the series’ launch in 2016, with the last book in the series — 2021’s Dog Man: Mothering Heights — becoming the best-selling print book of the year, with two other books in the series also showing up on the top 25 books of the year list. That’s not best-selling kids books of the year, but bestselling overall books of any genre. (When it came to kids books, Pilkey had five books in the top 25 list.)

Excitement for the new Dog Man book has been building for some time, with publisher Scholastic pulling out all the stops to promote the title, including an all-new comic book offered for free through indie bookstores as well as promotional 'Supa Epic Event Kits”'to help libraries and bookstores looking to celebrate the book’s release.

If all of this have you wondering how to get started on the Dog Man series, we have the answer for you. (It’s not as straightforward as you might think, wonderfully enough.)

Dog Man: Twenty Thousand Fleas Under the Sea will be officially released March 28. Expect it to top all book sales charts almost immediately after.
