Emerald City Comic Con 2024 show floor trends: Dice and plushies

Every convention show floor is different, here's what we saw at ECCC

For a lot of fans, comic conventions mean shopping, and Seattle's Emerald City Comic Con has had a busy show floor all weekend long. For those who like to follow trends though, here are two that we noticed on the show floor this week (and they probably reflect what's getting popular in nerd spaces in general).

Dice

Tabletop games are having a rennaissance, so it only makes sense that folks will want to buy more dice, and there were a lot of booths selling not only dice, but dice trays, dice boxes (including a booth that sold dice boxes in donut shapes), dice towers, and more.

Not only did Team Popverse pick up a few dice in our own shopping bags, we also had the pleasure of chatting with two dice-related merchants: Elderwood Academy and Summit Dice.

Stuffed animals and plushes

Plushies are having a moment right now, and I am not immune. Nor are a bunch of congoers that we saw over the weekend picking up Pokemon plushies, stuffed Pikmin hats, and original stuffed animal creatures.
