BlizzCon is back in September 2026 following Activision Blizzard's integration into new owner Microsoft

Nearly three years after the last BlizzCon, we're set to return to the Anaheim Convention Center for BlizzCon 2026.

It has been almost two years since the last BlizzCon was held, bringing together fans from all over the world to celebrate the worlds built by Blizzard Entertainment over the years. The last one was held in 2023 but subsequent events have been cancelled as Activision Blizzard focuses on its acquisition by Microsoft. However, the iconic BlizzCon is coming back in 2026.

Now that Activision Blizzard has been officially absorbed into Microsoft, the time has finally come for BlizzCon to return. The announcement also confirms that there won’t be a BlizzCon 2025. Blizzard president Johanna Faries revealed that BlizzCon 2026 would take place September 12-13, 2026 at Anaheim Convention Center during her panel at SXSW.

No line-up for the event has been announced, but a follow-up post on the Blizzard blog confirmed that BlizzCon 2026 would include “staples like Opening Ceremony, in-depth panels, the Darkmoon Faire, friendly competition, hands-on gameplay, and more.”

After missing two years in a row, and the proceeding years impacted by the pandemic, there is certainly an appetite among the Warcraft community for another get-together. However, the real question on our minds is will the famous Red Shirt Guy make an appearance and what bit of lore is he going to quiz the developers on during the inevitable Q&A panel? Then there is the always epic cosplay competition that brings out some of the most impressive builds of the year to look forward to, so, safe to say, we're plenty excited.

BlizzCon returns on September 12-13, 2026 at Anaheim Convention Center for the first time in almost three years.
