Critical Role wants to do more with the Darrington Brigade because it gives them an excuse to just be silly
The Darrington Brigade recently returned for a one-shot during Sam Riegel's 24-hour livestream - and the way the Critical Role cast love them, we wouldn't be surprised to see more

Ask your average Critical Role fan to name their favorite team of adventurers and you'll likely get one of the core three: Vox Machina, The Mighty Nein, or Bells Hells. But never forget that, after Campaign 1, another band of adventurers set out to save Exandria... with some admittedly mixed results. I'm talking about the Taryon Darrington-led Darrington Brigade, which may not be one of your favorites, but is certainly up there for the cast themselves.
At least, that's what Popverse's own Trent Cannon gathered when he spoke to the cast recently. Chatting with Laura Bailey, Liam O'Brien, Sam Riegel, and Taliesin Jaffe ahead of Prime Video's The Legend of Vox Machina season 4 debuting, Trent asked about the future of the Darrington Brigade's titular leader, and as we've already reported, part of that future is the desire for a spin-off TV series.
But that's not all - the original Taryon Darrington himself, Sam Riegel, wants to see more from the character and his ragtag band back at the Critical Role table, and for one particular reason.
"I would love to just see more adventures with the Darrington Brigade," said Riegel, "In live shows or on our channel because I just think that that whole group with Tyrion and his, his weirdo buddies is so fun and, and interesting. And it gives all of us, a chance to just be silly."
In case you don't know, the "weirdo buddies" Sam's describing are some of the strangest that the Critical Role cast gets to play. The cast includes Liam O'Brien as Buddy, a goggled ogre who wears a chariot cab, Ashley Johnson as Damian Vadoma, a tatted-up half-elf in a suit, Laura Bailey as Farriwen Breeze, a glowing pink elemental monk, Marisha Ray as Hazel Copperpot, a one-dwarf-band, Matt Mercer as Lionel Gayheart, a half-orc raised by ducks, Travis Willingham as Macaroni Samsonite, a halfling with a bone-suit, and Taliesin Jaffe as The Owlbear, basically Critical Role's Batman.
You cans see why the Critical Role cast would want to keep playing these characters in the future, and speaking personally, I hope they get the chance. In the meantime, though, you can watch the Darrington Brigade's most recent one-shot, Hubris!, right here.
The Legend of Vox Machina season 4 comes to Prime Video June 3.
With two animated series on Prime Video, Campaign 4 in full swing, and so much more Exandrian lore to come, Critical Role is showing no signs of slowing down. That's why the adventuring party at Popverse are here to bring you everything we can from those nerdy-ass voice actors & Bo., including:
- Critical Role release schedule
- Critical Role's Campaign 4 characters ranked
- How to watch Critical Role in order
- Ways for you to relive the Critical Role panel from ECCC '26
- Taliesin Jaffe on playing Mollymauk Tealeaf for Campaign 2 vs. playing him for Prime Video
- Matt Mercer's homebrew warrior class (created originally for Vin Diesel)
...and much, much more. Roll initiative, player. Magic awaits.
