Amazon Fallout series boosts Fallout game player counts again, but less than Season 1
Fallout Season 2 has reminded fans of how much they love the Wasteland, but it hasn't had the same impact that Season 1 did back in 2024

If you’re anything like us, Fallout Season 2 on Prime Video is making us crave our own return to the Wasteland. The way that the series has lovingly recreated some of the most iconic elements of Fallout, from the terrifying Deathclaws to the crippling drug addiction you can get, makes it hard not to fire up our old Fallout games. Turns out, plenty of other people feel the same way, with Steam reporting a huge surge in players of multiple Fallout games.
Checking out Steam DB, which gives reliable data on player habits on Steam, you can see a definite uptick in players since Fallout Season 2 started airing late in 2025. Fallout 76 has more than doubled the number of concurrent players since November 2025. Fallout: New Vegas, which is the setting of Fallout Season 2, has nearly tripled its player base in the same time. Fallout 4 is approaching 50k concurrent players for the first time since Fallout Season 1 aired.
Here is the catch, though: players haven’t returned in nearly the same numbers that they did when Fallout Season 1 aired in April 2024. Fallout 4, for example, peaked at more than 187k players when the first season came out. Both Fallout 76 and Fallout: New Vegas had similarly massive spikes at that time, which both overshadow the current uptick.
Why? We don’t know for sure, but it is probably to do with the slower release schedule of Fallout Season 2, which has a weekly release instead of dropping every episode all at once like Season 1 did. It is also probably due to the lack of a new game to play: if players already replayed their favorite Fallout game in 2024, they are unlikely to do so again less than two years later.
Whatever the reason, it is clear that fans are still eager to dive into the world of Fallout when the live-action series returns. However, it may be a case of diminishing returns for Bethesda until they can release the next Fallout game… whenever that might be.

Here is a guide to the Fallout timeline, how to play and watch all of Fallout, details on the Fallout cast, how the Fallout cast & crew really get the harsh humor we're looking for, as well as a Q&A with Fallout showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner.
