Magic: The Gathering has a new Secret Lair drop starring your favorite creepy, fluffy toy (No, it's not Labubu)
If you remember being unsettled by Furbys in the 1990s, Magic: The Gathering has transformed them into eldritch horrors with the Secret Lair x Furby: The Oddbodies drop

Today, Labubus are all the rage, but the unsettling, fluffy toy of my youth was Furbys. (Remember Furbys? They're still around, apparently.) While I am now a proud owner of a Labubu I've named Dermator, I've always found Furbys a little too disturbing to have around in my living space. I have a distinct memory of picking up and holding my cousin's Furby in my hands as a kid, and shuddering because I could feel the toy's robotic insides beneath its fluffy exterior.
Perhaps fittingly considering their inherent creepiness, Magic: The Gathering has announced a new Secret Lair drop called Secret Lair x Furby: The Oddbodies just in time for Halloween. The drop's listing on the Secret Lair website is too good not to include here in this article: "Thrust from their home world, and awash in raw energy, the Furby twisted into uncanny forms — no longer what they were, and not of this plane. Strange hybrids, brimming with unsettling power and equally eerie art from Narendra Bintara Adi, Madeline Boni, Justin Gerard, Nathaniel Himawan, and Antonio José Manzanedo."
See? Even Hasbro — which owns both Furbys and MTG publisher Wizards of the Coast — understands that Furbys are monstrous and inherently terrifying. "Twisted into uncanny forms," as if their regular forms weren't uncanny or twisted enough as it was!
Take a peek at the drop below, if you dare:

The cards included in the drop are Hullbreaker Horror, Maddening Cacophony, Serum Visions, Spellskite, and Umbris, Fear Manifest. The drop is available in confetti foil (how festive!), foil, and non-foil, ranging from $39.99 to $29.99 on the Secret Lair website. We're not exactly sure how this exact collaboration came about beyond Furby being a Hasbro property, but we're just glad that in 2025, we got to see some horrifying official Furby art.
If you have fond memories of Furbys from your childhood, you'll be pleased to know that there is a different Furby Secret Lair drop that offers a cute, Lisa Frank-inspired look at the fluffy toys called Doo-Ay Noo-Lah. So if eldritch horror Furbys aren't your vibe, at least you have a soft, colorful alternative to snatch up! And if this does open the door to a potential MTG x Labubu collab in the future... well, that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
