MTG's head designer was banned for talking to players for a month because he leaked upcoming cards during a public event
Many years ago, Mark Rosewater got into trouble with Magic: The Gathering's brand team for revealing card info he hadn't been cleared to reveal

If you've gone to a Magic: The Gathering panel at a MagicCon somewhere, chances are you've seen Magic's head of design, Mark Rosewater, address a crowd of excited gamers. Whether it's his Blogatog panel, where he answers the questions of Magic players, or a panel introducing the next Magic: The Gathering set, Mark Rosewater is always an enthusiastic force bridging the gap between the people who make Magic possible and the gamers who devote their time and money to the game.
Rosewater's openness with fans, however, has gotten him into trouble before with Magic's brand team, as he's revealed in a series of posts on his Tumblr blog. Answering a fan question, Rosewater wrote in one post, "I once got punished by the brand team and couldn’t talk to the players for a month. (This was *many* years ago.)" As you might imagine, lots of fans, myself included, had follow-up questions about this.
Another fan asked, "Hi mark! Why were punished by the brand team? Did you accidentally leak something?" to which Rosewater replied, "I answered a question at an event at a Pro Tour giving away information I wasn’t supposed to."
That wasn't the full story, though. A third player asked, "What got you punished? I don’t remember you taking a break from blogatog for a month?" and Rosewater dished on the details. "It was before Blogatog (many years before). I said something at a Pro Tour I wasn’t given permission to share. Here’s the details. I let the audience choose four Magic cards that they thought might return in the next core set. They named four cards, and I said two of the four would return. I had not been okayed to give that information."
Thankfully, Rosewater has been let out of fan question detention, and today, his Tumblr blog remains an active place for Magic players to ask the designer all questions great and small.
