Good Omens is getting a third season, as Amazon finally renews the divine comedy

Just when we were almost over how the second season ended

If you felt that the second season of Good Omens left things in an awkward place between everyone’s favorite demon and angel partners, you weren’t alone. We’re still not over the heartbreak as the pair had to part ways at the end, but fortunately, it looks like we won’t have to wait an eternity to see if those two can finally get together because the third season of Good Omens has been confirmed.

Admittedly, we thought it was quite brave for Amazon to even tackle a second season of Good Omens. The original book was the product of two of the UK’s most beloved fantasy writers, Neil Gaiman and Sir Terry Pratchett, and was the basis of the show’s first season. When it was announced that it would be coming back for a second helping, it would have to adapt an original story. However, Gaiman and the production team put together a surprisingly heartwarming will-they-won’t-they story that ended in such a bittersweet way that we need to see a little bit more.

It looks like "a little bit more" was part of the ineffable plan all along. Rumors have been swirling about the show's return for a while, but there have been several issues behind the scenes that have kept production from moving forward. Like a divine miracle, though, the third season of Good Omens was announced earlier via a post on their official social media. It lacked any of the usual details you’d hope to see, such as a release date – just a message that it was returning for a third season. Just a picture of Michael Sheen as Aziraphael and David Tennant as the demonic Crowley, looking exactly as adorable as we remember them from season two.
