It's Marvel vs. Monkeys in February as Marvel unveils Planet of the Apes variant cover program

Marvel is bringing the Planet of the Apes into its superhero universe in a series of variant covers, set for release in February 2023

When it comes to variant covers, Marvel is blowing it up next year. God damn them all to hell, as a certain spaceman might put it.

Tying in with the company getting the comic rights to Planet of the Apes back — with new stories starting in early 2023 — Marvel will spend the month of February pairing the franchise with characters from the Marvel Universe with more than 20 titles featuring variant covers teaming Marvel characters with post-apocalyptic apes from the beloved movie series.

To accompany the announcement, Marvel released 10 variant covers as previews of what to expect, which you can see in the gallery below. It’s not quite Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern just yet, but we can always hope for a more ape-filled future…
