Jeff Lemire's belowed Essex County comic book series - the comic which made him a star - has a TV show, and it could be coming to the United States and the United Kingdom aas soon as next year.

Essex County, is a co-production of Canada's CBC and Britain's ITV, and was filmed in 2022 with Lemire as the showrunner. For those of you in Canada, Essex County aired in spring 2023 on CBC - and led the TV nominations or the year's DIrectors Guild of Canada Awards.

But in all of that, it was never aired (legally, that is) outside of Canada.

But not for much longer.

“It’s a British co-production. ITV came in and paid for most of it. It will be [in the UK] in 2024 at some point, and it’s beginning to look like it will be in the States in 2024, as well," Lemire told an audience Saturday at Thought Bubbla Festival. "It’s so slow, everything’s so slow. I’ve created seven comics in the time it’s taken to get this up and running.”

Based on the graphic novel of the same name, Essex County centers on a small county in Ontario and the lives of sevaral of its residents. Here is a trailer:
