It looks like we’re getting another epic romantasy series out of To Kill a Kingdom author Alexandra Christo. The British author recently had her next trilogy picked up by Penguin Michael Joseph, a division of Penguin Books UK, with the first book in the new series, titled Cursekeeper, out in November 2026.
Cursekeeper follows Thalia, the guardian of the Library of Curses, as she is “thrust into a magical world of court politics” after the library is ransacked and her brother is taken by demons. Good news for romantasy fans; there is a brooding, enigmatic fae prince named Soren that we’re sure Thalia will have plenty of spicy scenes with. We’ve not even read him and he sounds like prime Shadow Daddy material to us.
Alexandra Christo has already written several books and series, including To Kill a Kingdom, which is a retelling of The Little Mermaid, and Princess of Souls, which gives the same treatment to Rapunzel and her flowing hair. However, Cursekeeper marks Christo’s first foray into adult romantasy. “Stories have power, and the tale of a library filled with curses – with books that can truly change your fate – has been swirling around my imagination for years,” Christo said about her upcoming book.
The deal with Penguin Michael Joseph for the romantasy trilogy marks a new page in Alexandra Christo’s journey as a writer. The first novel in the series is due out in November 2026, and the second book is reportedly due out a year later. The To Kill a Kingdom author is making the jump to adult fantasy and looks to carve a space in the romantasy genre for herself.
