Ryan Reynolds is working on a Deadpool/X-Men movie treatment, according to reports - but Marvel Studios hasn't signed off yet
Who wants to see a Deadpool team-up with the X-Men? Let's wait and see if Marvel Studios is amongst those sticking their collective hand in the air

Ryan Reynolds recently said that he was writing something Deadpool-related that wasn’t exactly an ensemble, but… well, that might have been a tiny little bit of misdirection, given the news that he’s apparently working on an X-Men project that will see Deadpool appear as a supporting character. Maybe something slightly ensemble-adjacent, perhaps.
The Hollywood Reporter has the scoop, saying that the project is currently in the treatment stage, and will feature “three or four” X-Men characters while “keeping his f-bomb wielding anti-hero more on the sidelines.” Notably, this is intended not as Marvel’s primary X-Men movie project, which is still in development with Michael Lesslie currently working on the screenplay.
Importantly, THR also notes that this is not an official Marvel Studios project just yet; instead, Reynolds is said to be fine-tuning the idea before bringing it to the studio, although it’s hard to imagine that they’d say no given the success of 2024’s Deadpool and Wolverine, which was the most-successful R-rated movie of all time.
That said, is Marvel ready to jump into developing two X-Men movies at the same time? That might be a moot question, given that the company currently publishes four different ongoing series with ‘X-Men’ in the title. (Not to mention, Deadpool is still technically in his home reality, which wouldn’t even have to intersect with the MCU X-Men unless something happens during Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars…)
Keep your eyes on Popverse for more details about Reynolds’ X-Men concept if and when it drops.
