Two of the crown jewels in the Netflix portfolio at the moment are, undoubtedly, KPop Demon Hunters and Wednesday. The former has become one of the biggest movies of 2025, while the latter remains one of Netflix's most popular series of all time. So, combining the two seems like a great way to ensure the success of a new venture, which is what Warner Bros. is doing by bringing the KPop Demon Hunters scriptwriters on board to write Wednesday producer Tim Burton’s reimagining of Attack of the 50 Foot Woman.
The original Attack of the 50 Foot Woman was released in 1958 and told the story of a woman who is released from a mental institution only to be turned into a giantess. As if that wasn’t enough, she has to deal with her cheating husband and his mistress in the B-movie classic. Tim Burton is attached to direct and produce the remake, which has just announced that Danya Jimenez and Hannah McMechan, who wrote the script for 2025’s KPop Demon Hunters, will be writing the screenplay. And it sounds like they understand the assignment.
“We’re obsessed with the idea of a fifty-foot woman wreaking havoc because a man did her dirty,” they said following the announcement. “We have a feeling a lot of people will relate.”
Tim Burton is someone who certainly knows his visuals and his distinctive style, from Beetlejuice through to his directing and producing of Wednesday for Netflix. This remake of a horror classic combines the talents behind two of Netflix’s biggest titles of the past year, so we expect some big things from this team-up. Say, fifty-foot-tall things.
