Lois Lane has a problem with Krypto - or, rather, the actress playing her kept putting her hand "through the dog" on the set of James Gunn's Superman

Sometimes, it's hard to act around CGI characters who aren't there during shooting, says Lois Lane herself, Rachel Brosnahan

The truism in the movie business is to never work with children or animals, but it turns out that working with no animals can be even worse — or, at least, that’s what cinema’s new Lois Lane, Rachel Brosnahan says, having shot a scene for this summer’s Superman in which she co-stars with Krypto… without Krypto actually being on set at the time.

“I shot a scene with the dog, Krypto,” Brosnahan said in a recently published conversation with actress Amanda Seyfried. “He’s so cute, but at least in my scene, there were limitations with the set that meant I couldn’t shoot with the stand-in. There was a stand-in dog, but sometimes there was also a person in a CGI suit who played the dog, and then sometimes there was nothing, so I’ve never felt like a worse actor in my entire life.”

First of all: I can only hope he get to see behind-the-scenes footage of the person in the CGI suit playing Krypto. Please, James Gunn. Please. Turns out, though, it was when there was absolutely nothing on set to stand in for the Super Dog that Brosnahan had the most problems.

“There was nothing there. James was on the god mic somewhere far away, going, ‘No. Rachel, you put your hand through the dog. Stop putting your hand through the dog.’”

Okay, hands up everyone else who’s going to be looking for the scene where Lois puts her hand through Krypto when Superman flies into theaters July 11?
