Man of Tomorrow's wrap photo from behind-the-scenes sparks fan speculation about the future of DC's Lex Luthor

Could next year's Man of Tomorrow film be headed to the planet Salvation? 

That's what a cohort of DC fans are speculating after James Gunn posted some behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram from the final day of shooting Man of Tomorrow. The first image shows Nicholas Hoult taking a swim in a lake after the final shot of production, and the second shows the film's "brain trust (except Brian)" posing next to the lake. 

Lots of fans have left comments on the Instagram post speculating that the shooting location is supposed to be the planet that Peacemaker was banished to at the end of Peacemaker season 2. Now, maybe I'm missing something here, but nothing really screams "Salvation" in these images beyond the fact that it is an outdoor area that has foliage and trees in the background. 

I'm going to be an annoying science man for a second and state something: the environment behind the Man of Tomorrow brain trust in the picture looks different to my eyes than the one on Salvation at the end of Peacemaker season 2. There are coniferous trees in the Man of Tomorrow photo, meaning trees that have needles instead of your average tree leaf. In contrast, upon looking at the shots on Salvation from Peacemaker season 2, it looks like the planet primarily has deciduous, or normal leaf trees, as I call them in my head. 

There's also the fact that the Man of Tomorrow location looks mountainous, while Salvation looks aggressively flat in Peacemaker season 2. Obviously, planets can have different environments, but what I'm trying to say here is that trees can exist outside in different areas. Multiple filming locations scattered around the world can be used to depict the same place in a film or TV show. That said, two places having trees doesn't necessarily mean they're the same place.

But who knows, maybe I'm entirely wrong about this! We'll know for sure when Man of Tomorrow flies into theaters on July 9, 2027.
