Sony launches social media account for The Legend of Zelda movie - and includes the most petty dig at Nintendo you can spot
Someone on the Sony Pictures marketing team knows a good joke when they see it

We’re nearly two years away from the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie, but Nintendo and Sony Pictures look like they’re laying the groundwork for the intense publicity that the movie is going to get in the coming years. We’ve got confirmation of who will be playing Zelda and Link in the film – and no, it isn’t Tom Holland – and now an official Legend of Zelda movie Twitter/X page has been set up.
The new page is titled simply @The_Zelda_Movie and was created back in November 2023 but only recently got rebranded into a promotional page for The Legend of Zelda movie. So far, it has just reposted pages confirming the cast and release date for the adaptation. So how do we know that this page is legitimate? Because it has been verified as an affiliate of Sony Pictures. Sony Pictures is co-financing the movie with Nintendo, which explains that connection.
Interestingly, the Sony Pictures page is one of the two pages that The Legend of Zelda Movie account is following. The other is the Sony PlayStation account on Twitter, which tells us that someone on the marketing team definitely has a sense of humor. The fact that The Legend of Zelda account isn’t following Nintendo on social media but is following PlayStation is the kind of petty joke that we love to spot.
So what can we glean from this page? Not a lot, unsurprisingly. It consists of a banner and description that says “The Legend of Zelda is coming exclusively to theaters 2027,” which we already knew. But hey – at least we know where to find news when it does break, right?
The Legend of Zelda movie is due out on May 7, 2027.
